Do you grow the sod?
Yes. Bayside Sod is a sod producer. We have grown sod since 1987 and have about 900 acres under production.
Do you have multiple varieties of sod?
Yes. We grow four St. Augustines, Floratam, ProVista, Bitterblue, and our new Fusion blend, plus EMPIRE and CitraZoy Zoysia, Bimini Bermuda, and Bahia.
What if I do not know what kind of sod I need?
We can help. After a few questions about sun, shade, traffic, and irrigation, we recommend the variety that best suits your yard.
Do you have sod that grows in the shade?
Yes. We grow a couple of shade-tolerant varieties, Bitterblue and ProVista St. Augustine. Every sod still needs at least four hours of good sunlight a day.
Can I see the different varieties of sod?
Yes. Our store at 19810 FL-64, Bradenton, FL 34211 has a live display of every variety.
Buy One Piece or Many Pallets; Delivery Starts at One Pallet
Is there a minimum amount of sod I need to buy?
No. We sell sod by the piece (16 by 24 inches, 2.67 square feet) and by the pallet (400 square feet), so you can buy as little as one piece or as many pallets as you need.
How much does sod cost?
For homeowners, sod pieces are $3.75 each, whatever the variety. Pallet prices vary by variety, so call (941) 702-1746 for the latest pricing and any specials. Landscapers should also call for current pricing.
Do I have to pick up the sod, or do you deliver?
Both. You can always pick up at the store, and we deliver. For homeowners, delivery is free in Bradenton and Sarasota, with a nominal fee for surrounding areas. Delivery requires a minimum of one pallet. Landscapers can pick up at the store or have sod delivered to the project site.
Installs Typically Run $1.00 to $1.75 per Square Foot
Do you provide installation services?
Yes. Call us for a free proposal. An estimator visits your property to measure the project, understand what the installation requires, and answer your questions. We then send an electronic proposal, which you can sign online, and we schedule the installation.
How much does an installation project cost?
A site visit is required for an accurate proposal, but for budgeting, typical pricing is $1.00 to $1.75 per square foot. The factors that move the price:
- The sod variety
- Yard access for removal and delivery, or wheelbarrows only
- Removal of existing sod or weeds
- Simple grading
- Dirt or Comand compost, when recommended or required
- The number of special cuts needed to lay the sod
The proposal is free, so call for an accurate price.
Does my existing grass or weeds need to be removed before new sod?
Yes, and we handle it. As part of our process, we remove your existing grass and weeds with a sod cutter before installing the new sod.
Do I need irrigation?
We highly recommend irrigation. If you have no irrigation system, Bahia is a good option.
Do you install or service sprinklers?
We do not install or service sprinklers. If our crew breaks a sprinkler during an installation, we fix it.
Do you repair lawns, or only install entire lawns?
We do repair work. A common example is new sod after pool construction. Install projects typically require at least one pallet (400 square feet).
Five Emails, Turf Care, and a Guarantee
Do you give recommendations for establishing my new lawn?
Yes. When we install your sod, you receive an introductory email followed by four weekly emails with tips for establishing the new lawn. For ongoing fertilization and weed, insect, and disease control, our Turf Care program starts at $79 a month in Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Do you guarantee your sod and installation?
Yes. We promise quality sod, professionally installed, and you make the final payment only when you are completely satisfied with your installation. Delivery and pickup customers are covered too: if you are not satisfied with the quality of your sod on arrival, we replace it or refund your money.
