St. Augustine Sod From Our Bradenton Farm
Bitterblue is a shade-tolerant St. Augustine grass with a dark blue-green color, and a proven alternative to Floratam where Lethal Viral Necrosis (LVN) is a concern.
Bitterblue is a proven variety of St. Augustine grass known for its dark blue-green color and excellent shade tolerance. It performs well in both sun and shade and can tolerate moderate foot traffic and pet activity.
Bitterblue is also an excellent alternative to Floratam in areas where Sugarcane Mosaic Virus (SCMV) and Lethal Viral Necrosis (LVN) are a concern. While Floratam is highly susceptible to developing LVN, Bitterblue has shown resistance to the lethal effects of the virus and is among the varieties recommended for replacing LVN-affected Floratam lawns.
Not all sod sold as Bitterblue is necessarily true Bitterblue. Floratam has previously been mistakenly sold as Bitterblue in Florida, resulting in lawns failing again from LVN. Bayside Sod’s Bitterblue has been independently verified as not Floratam, giving customers added confidence when choosing it as an alternative for areas where LVN is a concern.
