About Bahia
What Makes Bahia Different
Bahia Grass is valued for outstanding drought and heat tolerance and an ability to thrive where many lawn grasses falter. Its use in lawns occurs in a very limited region of the southeastern United States. Within this area, Bahia Grass produces a relatively durable, low-growing, low-maintenance turf.
Bahia Grass is the only variety that does not require an irrigation system.
Bahia Is Harvested From Pastures
Unlike the other varieties we grow, Bahia sod is harvested from pastures and is not maintained or irrigated like our farm-grown sod, so its quality cannot be guaranteed. It is most often used for roadside work and erosion control. Pieces commonly carry weeds, break apart, and look uneven. In a yard, Bahia takes a few weeks to settle, grow in, and look like a normal lawn.

How much does Bahia sod cost?

Does Bahia grow in shade?
Bahia is good for full sun, limited for shade. Every variety we sell needs at least four hours of good sunlight a day. For shadier yards, look at Bitterblue or Fusion St. Augustine.
